Classic Bruschetta
Ingredients
FOR THE TOMATOES
- 4 tbsp.
extra-virgin olive oil
- 2
cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 4
large tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 c.
thinly sliced basil
- 2 tbsp.
balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp.
kosher salt
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
FOR THE BREAD
- 1
large baguette, sliced ¼" thick on the bias
Extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing
- 2
cloves garlic, halved
Directions
Step 1
Prepare the marinated tomatoes by heating the oil in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and simmer for 2 to 4 minutes, or until it turns lightly yellow. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Step 2
Combine the tomatoes, basil, vinegar, salt, and red pepper flakes in a sizable bowl. Stir together the skillet's oil and garlic after adding them. Wait at least 30 minutes before serving.
